4 PE & School Sport Professional Development Learning South Leicestershire SSP, the Hinckley & Bosworth & Leicester City SSPANs, Val Sabin Publications and Training & Bright Futures Education provide locally delivered training and bespoke support for schools. The support available will enable schools to develop a sustainable and high quality PE & school sport provision for the benefit of their pupils and staff, in line with OFSTED requirements and the expected outcomes of the PE & Sport Premium.

5 Sainsbury’s School Games Mark Recognises commitment to and development of competition, school sport and PE. Schools can achieve Bronze, Silver & Gold Levels Schools report back data on Participation, Competition, Workforce & Club Engagement. To be an ambassador and role model, advocating PE and school sport. To be the young people’s voice on PE and school sport in their school.

18 Sporting / Bronze Ambassadors Tasks Set up a School Sport Organising Crew. Create a PE and school sport notice board. Set up a new sports club. Run a school sport competition. Make a presentation on sporting opportunities in school.

19 School Sport Organising Crews Outcomes Students will gain an understanding that they are an integral part of the workforce which will organise intra-school (within school) sport. SSOC members will develop a range of life and employability skills such as fact finding, marketing, organisation and team work. The SSOC will exert influence on the school sport offer by articulating their opinions and being agents of change

20 School Sport Organising Crews What should the SSOC do? 1. Develop the Sainsbury’s School Games by: Surveying peers and teachers Promote the Sainsbury’s School Games Form an SSOC committee Act on the survey results 2. Organise intra-school sport

21 Change4Life Champions Overview Change4Life Champions help to bring the healthy active lifestyle message to life within the Change4Life club and across the primary school and act as champions for health and physical activity with their peers.

24 YA Peer Leaders Roles and responsibilities To increase participation in PE, and promote healthy lifestyles in their school. To motivate other pupils to seek further opportunities in both leadership and school sport. To deliver 12 weeks of extra-curricular sessions to 10 pupils who have been identified by teachers as not currently being engaged by the current sport offer

28 Targeted programmes What will be on offer in 2015-16? ENERGY Clubs Free physical activity & nutrition clubs for targeted pupils who don’t enjoy / regularly take part in physical activity or who have health barriers i.e. are overweight. Healthy Lifestyle Coach to deliver 10-12 x weeks of activity per school. Leicestershire Nutrition Service deliver a ‘cook & eat’ session with children & parents. Energy Club resource for all pupils with challenges and activities each week.

29 Targeted programmes What will be on offer in 2015-16? Big Moves Fundamental Movement Support programme for targeted young people in EYFS / KS1. 6 x weeks of Movement Coach support and evaluation of impact including fine and gross motor skills, concentration, listening, self care, social skills etc.

30 Targeted programmes What will be on offer in 2015-16? Girls Active Lifestyles Mini The project aims to engage girls in health and fitness activities, encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Funding will be given to schools to provide 6 weeks of fitness based activities for year 5 & 6 girls. Girls taking part in the weekly sessions from all schools will be invited to attend the Girls Active Lifestyle Mini Event at a local leisure centre
