2 Contract Background The original MRO contract included a category for building supplies. Information was sent to over 200 vendors, no company was able to respond to this broad category. It was decided by the commodity council to proceed with awarding a general MRO contract, and that building supplies would be added at a later date.

3 Background The State of Utah was the lead state for a National cooperative contract for building supplies through the WSCA (Western States Contracting Alliance) - Walk-In Building Supplies/Carpentry Supplies/Home Improvement Supplies and related material. WSCA Directors noticed that dollars were being spent at Hardware Stores, with no monetary discount to States.

4 Background It was estimated that approximately $50 Million was being spent annually from the 21 States that indicated their intent to participate with each State paying regular retail pricing

5 Background In the last year, Lowe’s has recognized the potential for State Government contracts, and has increased the discount offered to States and Political Subdivisions.

6 Solicitation Highlights Nationwide supplier desired, but suppliers were allowed to respond to single states Total Proposals Received – 5 Lowe’s 84 Lumber Frank’s Supply Border Construction Six Points Hardware The final evaluation points are as: Supplier Technical Score Lowe’s434.5 84 Lumber Company318

7 NATIONWIDE CONTRACTS AWARDED WSCA approved multiple awards to: LOWES with 1700 Locations Nationwide for Walk-In Convenience Large inventory with a variety of selection and brand State Purchasing Cards are accepted.

8 Easy account set up (3 options) Customers sign up individually on line State sends approved customer base list to Lowe’s for processing Individual Agencies requests number of Key Fobs to be issued.

9 Key Fobs Required Key Fob or Bar Code Strip for customer identification. This card will identify your tax exempt status, and will identify the contract so you may receive discount. This will speed any transaction at cashier station.

10 What is Covered? Building Supplies may include, but are not limited to: Lumber, Plywood, Dry Wall, Roofing, Cement, Ceiling Tiles, Masonry, etc. Millwork, Doors, Windows, etc. Flooring, Tile, Carpet, etc. Kitchen, Cabinets, etc. Appliances

11 Helpful Reminders State Agencies are reminded to utilize all existing mandatory contracts when possible and according to your purchasing procedures. Purchase Cards are the preferred method for payment. Special arrangements for purchase orders can be negotiated, but will delay your purchase.
