3. Legend tells of a Buddhist guru named Padmasambhava who flew on the back of a tigress to a cave known as the Tiger’s Lair. High in the cave, Padmasambhava meditated for more than three years. That’s the more exciting tale of the founding of Paro Taktsang, a Buddhist monastery in Bhutan. History holds that the cave was a meditation site as early as the 8 th century, with the monastery built in 1692. It’s since become a destination for visitors to Paro – the city below the cliffs – as well as a national symbol for Bhutan. Main Critical Thinking Question
