6 First Project - IR Implemented DigitalCommons in 2005 To provide access to our student Honor Projects – always cataloged and made available through Interlibrary Loan, but limited access to print copies (Archives only) Initial training for using the system For us – on-site with ProQuest staff For students – beginning in 2007, self-deposit for electronic document; instructions sent in writing to each student, also made available on the web, one-on- one as needed 5/20/11 Macalester College

16 Additional skills & training Marketing and promotion – ongoing, and everyone needs to be involved Instruction – expanding from including scholarly communication issues in infofluency, to creating and editing a journal as part of a course (AmStudies, Tapestries) Communities of practice – utilizing lists, discussion groups, webinars, conferences to increase skills and knowledge Bepress webinars – available to DigitalCommons subscribers 5/20/11 Macalester College
