1 Animals of the British Isles GABRYSIA PRZYŁUCKA IIB

2 We can find the same birds in the Britain and Europe, but there are fewer breeding species on the British Isles than in Europe. On the British Isles winters are mild so many species of birds can winter here.

3 Currently, there are about 250 species recorded in Great Britain and 300 another which occur here rarely.

4 Many popular species of birds are passerines for example: Robins Skylarks and finches are seed-eating birds.

5 Birds of prey Sparrowhawks Barn owls Puffins

6 Puffins live in coastal areas. They’re very characteristic. Puffins have black and white plumage and brightly coloured beaks.

7 In Great Britain are not many large mammals. Two of the largest wild mammals that remain in Britain today are: The red deer The roe deer

8 The roe deer is smaller than the red deer. It has rather short, erect antlers and a grey face.

9 The most commonly known species of insectivores found in Britain are: Hedgehogs Moles Shrews (are also fairly common)

10 Rabbits and hares The European Hare or Brown Hare It is a mammal The Brown Hare is larger than rabbit.

11 The red fox being the largest of carnivores on the British Isles. On British shores you can find seals and dolphins Porpoises, whales and sharks can be seen on the west coast.
