2. Ser & estar Both ser and estar mean “to be.”

3. Ser Ser is used to explain long- lasting characteristics. Example: Soy una muchacha. (I am a girl.)

4. Estar Estar is used to describe a temporary state or condition. Example: Estoy enfermo. (I am sick.)

5. Estar is used to describe ALL location (even if the location is permanent) with one exception. Example: Charlotte está en Carolina del Norte.
