22 MLA StyleAPA Style Page Numbers Put them one-half inch below the top of the page in the upper right corner, with your last name and a space before them Put them in the upper right corner. Use a short version of your title, then five spaces, then the page number. The title page is i and the first page of your paper itself is 1. Essay Heading At top left corner, place the following (double-spaced): Your name Professor's Name Course Identification Date Uses a Title Page instead Internal Citations MLA format follows the author-page method of in-text citation; the author's last name and the page number(s) from which the quotation or paraphrase is taken must appear in the text, and a complete reference should then appear on your Works Cited page. APA format uses the author-date method of in- text citation; the author's last name and the year of publication for the source should appear in the text, E.g., (Jones, 1998), and a complete reference should then appear in the Reference list at the end of the paper. Bibliography Begin it on a new page. Center the heading Works Cited just below the top margin. Continue to number pages. Double space. Within each entry, indent every line except the first (hanging indent). Same as MLA format but use the word References instead of Works Cited.
