Continuing to incorporate reading and writing into the PE/Health curriculum is important not only to our school (SIP) but also to our department. 8th Grade Global Theme is “What Role Does Balance Play in Our Lives?” ERR Preparation (ISAT)-reading,writing and making connections Our school was on a mission to incorporate multi- disciplinary units. Intro to Project The 8 th grade global theme is “What role does balance play in our lives?” In keeping with that theme, we are asking you to read a sports fiction/nonfiction book that you have not read before and complete a project focusing on areas the characters you read about may find or struggle to find balance. Some examples of areas that balance or lack of may be seen are in health, family, friends, nutrition, sports, decision-making, etc. Please choose a book that is representative of you as a reader. The pages you read can be applied to your independent reading for English class.

Key Criteria  Key Criteria:  Introductory Info: Include your first name and last initial, the title and author of your book, and a clever/creative title that is different from your book title.  Summary of the book: 1-2 paragraph summary (written on the Glog or audio/video-inserted into Glog)  Reflection relating to balance: In a clever, creative way share your thoughts, opinions, feelings, etc. about the book in general and in relation to balance. This could be in the form of a poem, creating a new ending to the book, offering advice to a character or to other teens based on the information in the book, or other applicable ideas.
