2 Headliner will read “How can we/I help you be successful today?” Promote accessibility of library resources & staff Allow students to view staff members as part of their own “success team” rather than just rule enforcers or monitors Photo of each library staff member Job Title with brief description of areas of responsibility (what we do that can help students) Brief bio with education, interests/hobbies, etc. to make staff more personable

3 Share information about various holidays or special days celebrated around the world (For example: April has Arbor Day, Earth Day, Keep America Beautiful, Lawn & Garden Month) Inform students/patrons about upcoming events on campus or in the surrounding area ( For example: Hill College will participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life on April 29) Educate students/patrons about important/relevant topics (For example: Earth Day display has suggestions for ways in which students/patrons can “reduce their carbon footprint” by recycling & being more energy efficient) Handouts are often made available to students/patrons on top of the display cases (S EE NEXT PAGE FOR EXAMPLE DISPLAY )

4 Denise Smith Evening Assistant Library During the evenings she works, Denise assists students with access to library resources (books in stacks, computer lab, online databases, etc.). She especially likes helping students with research for term papers. Denise also maintains the bulletin board & display cases inside the library so please let her know if there is something you would like to learn more about. Denise received her BS in Speech Pathology from Kansas State University & her teaching certificate through the Alternative Teacher Certification Program @ McLennan Community College. She would like to pursue a master’s degree in Library Science in the near future. When not working, she enjoys reading, spending time with her dogs & crafts such as jewelry making, floral arranging and scrapbooking.

5 Can also use these areas to let students/patrons know how the library renovation is going. Already using kiosk area @ front of library with video running on loop to give students/patrons a “sneak peek.” Also, during 3 previous semesters, have used interactive display on white board in various locations inside library to get feedback from students/patrons about what they would like to see in the new library. This provided very helpful information which was utilized by the renovation planning committee.
