4. The Case study Police Review of the premises licence for a night club Public Health made a representation to support their review on grounds of crime and disorder and public safety. Evidence: –Premises putting public safety at risk –Injuries sustained requiring medical attention –Police obtained permission to access medical records of the injured –Established the costs for providing the treatment. Written Statement produced and submitted as evidence to Licensing Committee by the Director of Public Health:

The Hearing and Outcome Three day hearing DPH presented evidence in the format of a written statement and presented to Licensing Committee Outcome – premises licence retained with amended conditions: – reduction in closing time (4am), –stricter conditions in relation to admissions, –membership policy for customers, –Improved CCTV coverage required Premises appealed the decision to the Magistrates Court. (amended conditions through negotiation) Premises closed shortly after the action.

8. LAAA has three key aims: To reduce alcohol related crime and disorder To reduce alcohol related harms Underpinning both these aims - Working to promote growth by establishing diverse and vibrant night time economies.
