Tina’s Journey Grades K-5 Written by: Joni Scott

Once upon a time in a far off land. There was a tiny girl named Tina who was out playing. She played so long and so far from home she didn’t realize that she lost her way.

She longed to find home. “Who will help me,” she wondered.

Home seemed so far away. She looked and looked for her home. She couldn’t find her way.

She was just about to give up when she heard something in the forest. She found two little girls playing.

Tina scared the little girls and they ran to hide. Tina shouted “Please don’t leave!” Tina began to cry..

The little girls peeked through the bushes and saw Tina crying. The older girl put her hand on Tina’s shoulder. “Don’t cry little one,” the girl said.

We know this forest very well and we will help you find your way. Tina was so happy. She didn’t think she would ever find her way home again, until now.

The three girls started on their way. Tina was going home As they walked along the girls noticed the mess campers made of the forest.

As they walked they cleaned up the mess.

What Tina didn’t realize was that her home was just around the bend. She started to see things that looked familiar.

Tina saw her family playing in the front yard. She began to run when she saw her mom. Her family was so happy to see her.

Tina told her family about how dirty the forest was. They quickly got to work cleaning up the forest.

When the family got finished cleaning the forest Tina’s mom turned to ask the girls where they lived. They were gone.

Tina began to wonder what happened to the girls.

It has been said that the forest has it’s own fairies that keep it clean with the help of ordinary people like you and me. So, if you are in the woods and you find yourself in a big mess, you may meet those fairies for yourself.

Show the fairies and your community you care. Volunteer to help clean up your community.

Never forget, there is no place like your home and your community. So, make sure you keep it clean by volunteering to help whenever you can.
