Do you know what school William went to?

William was born on 23 rd April 1654 in Stratford upon Avon. His parents’ names were John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. He was then baptised on the 26 th April 1654. He had seven brothers and sisters and was the third of eight. As William was born in the 1600s, technology was not as good so most of William’s life wasn’t recorded. And even the information that was recorded is not certain to be true. It can only be predicted!

William was said to have gone to King Edwards VI Grammar school in Stratford. But he apparently started school at the age of seven or eight. Now imagine if you started at a grammar school when you were seven or eight. But William had to go to school whether he wanted to or not. It was his father's request. But this must have been a huge responsibility for William as he was only sever or eight. He would have been struggling from a lot of pressure but this was just something he couldn’t do anything about!

At the age of fourteen, William’s farther went broke. As he’s family went broke, he had to drop out of school. But he wasn’t allowed to just sit around, he had to work. What exactly he did, we do not know but it is said to be true that he did work!

You are probably thinking well what does marriage have to do with childhood. In the olden times, people used to get married very young and when I say very young I’m talking about our age! But William got married at the age of 18 whereas Anne, his wife, was twenty six! Now that’s quite a big difference. You will discover why he got married a bit later on...

HEY!! Family Tree

William Shakespeare had a large family. He has many brothers and sisters (7) and was the 3 rd of 8. His parents John Shakespeare and Mary Arden married in 1557 and died in 1601 and 1608. Shakespeare married a lady named Anne Hathaway(not the actress!) but not for love. He only married her because she was carrying his child at the time. William and Anne had 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

We don’t really know much about his love life, its sort of a mystery that no one has solved. But we do have evidence that could prove he was bisexual, in other words William Shakespeare was gay. This gave the first evidence out of many sonnets he wrote that he was gay, it gave a very sexual nature towards him being a homosexual. Here is the last four verses of sonnet 18: Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shane When in eternal lies to time thou growest So long as men can breathe or eyes can see So long lives this and this gives life to thee. Men or Women.. Doesn’t bother me

In the few signatures that have survived, Shakespeare spelled his name “Willm Shaksp,” “William Shakespe,” “Wm Shakspe,” “William Shakspere,” ”Willm Shakspere,” and “William Shakspeare”--but never “William Shakespeare.” Although Shakespeare is usually considered an Elizabethan playwright, much of his greatest work was produced after James I took the throne. So, Shakespeare could be more accurately considered Jacobean. Did you know that Shakespeare apparently died on his Birthday? Did you know that it is believed that William Shakespeare went to grammar school at the age of around seven or eight? There is no evidence for what Shakespeare did between 1585 and 1592, the period when he moved to London and began his writing career. So, there is no record of how his career began or how quickly he rose to fame.
