11 SECONDARY SCHOOL APPRENTICESHIPS (SSA) Designed for students 15 - 19 years old who are interested in skilled trades training. Students earn up to 16 graduation credits (4 senior level courses) and a $1,000 scholarship upon successful completion of the program. SSA is a partnership with SD42, an employer, and the Industrial Training Authority. The goal of the SSA program is to give students a head start into apprenticeships that prepares them for a career in the trades. 12 Work Experience 12A & 12B Course These are elective courses that Grade 11 & 12 students may take. Once enrolled, Work Experience shows up on your timetable but there is no assigned block. A majority of the work for this course is to complete 90 hours of volunteer or work experience plus some paperwork to support these hours. Reasons for taking this course: Extra credits to graduate, raise your grade point average, additional certificate in a Focus Area and if you have a heavy academic workload or demanding schedule a potential for work experience to be placed in your timetable. (permission must be given from Mr. Rowell and Mr. Levesque.)

13 In order to complete the requirements Work Experience 12 Students must: Complete a work safety assignment (prior to placement) Complete 90 hours of work experience (paid or volunteer) Submit an employer’s evaluation form(s) Submit a self-evaluation form(s) Submit a typed personal resume and cover letter Submit a work experience summary Submit a thank you letter for volunteer work Reflection
