3 Opening Word 2013  Click the Start button  Enter “word” in the Search box  Click on the Word 2013 when it appears

4 Opening Microsoft 2013 for the First Time  You might get lots of ads for additional programs or features  Click the X to close  You may have to wait a few seconds while your computer finishes the installation process  Click Use Recommended Settings and Accept if an additional box appears

5 New Options when opening Word  Options in the Left Panel  Recent documents - a list of documents you have worked on recently  Open Other Documents – then click Computer to Browse documents stored on your computer  Options in the Center Panel  Template Previews – predesigned documents that you can customize  Search Box (at top of screen) - for searching online templates  Blank document – double click on the preview to open a new blank Word document

6 New Look for Office 2013  The Ribbon is mostly the same.  New Options in the Upper Right Corner  Click the ? to access the Help menu.  Click the small arrow inside the box for options to minimize the ribbon.  New Look for Options in the Lower Right Corner (from left to right)  Switch views between:  Read Mode, makes the document full screen for easy viewing  Print Layout, the normal view we are accustomed to  Web Layout, what the document would look like on a website  Zoom slide bar

7 FILE Tab  No Office Button  File tab does what the Office Button used to do  Use the back arrow to get back to the document

8 FILE Tab> New  You can open another Blank document  Open an available Template  Or, Search for online templates

9 FILE Tab> Open  You can open a Recent Document that will be listed on the right.  Or, you can click on Computer and Browse to open files saved in Documents.

10 FILE Tab> Save and Save As  These work the same as Office 2007 except now you have the option to store files in Recent Folders.  Or, you can click Browse to navigate to where you would like to save it.

11 FILE Tab> Print (also Print Preview)  All print and printer options in one place  Choose the number of copies  Select a different printer  Print One or Two sides  Print Orientation  Paper Size  Set Margins  Choose the number of pages per sheet (new)  More detailed choices in Page Setup  Preview different pages  Zoom slider for preview

12 FILE Tab> Share  Click Email  Your file is automatically attached to an email  Send as Attachment (MSWord format)  Send as PDF  Other options are not applicable for our use

13 FILE Tab> Export  Create PDF/XPS Document  Click the Create PDF/XPS icon  Navigate to where you want to store the file  Click Publish  Change File Type  To an older version of Word  Template  Other File Types  Plain Text (*.txt)  Rich Text Format (*.rtf)  Single File Web Page

15 Customizing Office Appearance * Can be done in any application  Click File  Click Options  In the Word Options box, click the dropdown beside Office Theme and choose Light Gray or Dark Gray  Click OK  You can also select an Office Background  Click OK

16 Quick Access Tool Bar  Default icons:  Save  Undo  Redo  Click the downward arrow to Customize Quick Access Toolbar by adding frequently used options like:  Email (new)  Quick Print  Print Preview  Further customize the toolbar clicking More Commands  Add Popular Commands in the left panel  Reordering the Quick Access Toolbar icons in the right panel

17 INSERT Tab  Pictures – quick access to your pictures  Online Pictures – quick access to Office.com and Bing clip art  Store – Apps for Office  Wikipedia – add definitions and images into your document  Online Video – access to Bing Video Search and You Tube, inserts a preview and the video link into your document without all the ads (you must have override permission)  Equations and Symbols – easy to add standard equations, make your own by using Insert New Equation, and access to a wide variety of symbols

18 REVIEW Tab  New Comment – highlight a word and click New Comment  Enter your comment into the box  A comment bubble will appear on the document  Start Inking – write on the document with pens or highlighters (not available on laptops)

19 PowerPoint 2013

20 Opening PowerPoint 2013  Click the Start button  Enter “powerpoint” in the Search box  Click on the PowerPoint 2013 when it appears

21 New Present Icons  Start from the Beginning  Icon located in the Quick Access Toolbar  Start from Current Slide  Icon located by the zoom slide in the lower right corner

22 FILE Tab > Export  Easily convert your 2013 Powerpoint to a video  FILE tab > Export > Create a Video  Display Options (top box)  Computer & HD Displays  Internet & DVD  Portable Devices  Recorded Timings (bottom box)  Use Recorded Timings and Narration  Or, choose a time to display each slide  Click Create Video  Navigate to where you want to save the file  Choose between WMV (computers)  or MPEG-4 (mobile devices)

23 FILE Tab > Export  Create Handouts  Choose from:  Notes next to slides  Blank lines next to slides  Notes below slides  Blank lines below slides  Outline only  Pastes your choice into MSWord so you can add titles, adjust margins, and save them to your computer to print them whenever needed

26 Outlook 2013

27 Installing Outlook 2013  Click the Outlook 2013 icon on your desktop and follow the prompts to install Outlook.  Or,  Click the Start button and start entering “Outlook” into the search bar.  Click on Outlook 2013 and follow the prompts to install Outlook.

28 Making Public Folders Visible  It is important that you use the Public Folders to reserve equipment; however, the default Navigation Bar in Outlook 2013 does not show the Public Folders.  We will be adding Folders to the Navigation Bar.  On the Navigation Bar, click ***.  A new box will appear, click Navigation Options. Your Navigation Bar could be words or icons depending on your settings.

29 Making Public Folders Visible, cont.  Change Maximum number of visible items: to 5  Click on Folders and use the Move Up button to move Folders into the 5 th position.  Click OK.

30 Making Public Folders Visible, cont.  Folders will appear in your Navigation Bar.  When you click on the Folders link, you will see Public Folders in the left panel.  Click the small arrow beside All Public Folders and any subsequent arrows to expand the list to see all campuses and calendars.

31 Recovering Deleted Items (items that you deleted from your deleted folder)  Click on the FOLDER tab along the top of Outlook  Choose the Recover Deleted Items button  Click to select message(s)  Click the button at the top of the window that looks like an envelope with an arrow  The message will be sent to your inbox

34 Pinning Word to Your Taskbar  Click the Start button  Start entering “word” in the Search box  Right click on the Program when it appears  Click on Pin to Taskbar The icon will appear on your taskbar for easy access.

35 Other Programs You Might Want to Pin  Any programs you use frequently such as:  Outlook  Excel  PowerPoint  Smart Notebook  Snipping Tool  You can re-arrange them by just dragging them into a new position
