1 The purpose of the Highlander Youth Ranch, Inc. is to provide a safe and secure home environment for children within the foster care system as well as creating jobs within the community. The goal of the youth ranch is to provide foster care children with an opportunity to grow as individuals by attending the Roy Municipal Schools, which will support the children in gaining the proper education, structure, and the foundation to become responsible adults and productive citizens. Mission Statement Highlander Youth Ranch The Highlander Youth Ranch, Inc. is a Non- Profit Organization (501(c)3) that is based around ensuring the future for children to become productive citizens while maintaining a structured home environment and creating jobs in the Roy community. The youth ranch will be structured in three different phases. Each phase will be based on a three to five year term per each grant issued, plus having a non-profit organization (501(c)3) status for donations. Grants will be issued every three to five years based on the progress from each phase and donations will be a continual income. Phase 1 of the youth ranch will start with long- term foster care children grades sixth through eleventh, with a total of thirty-two children (16 boys and 16 girls) placed in a total of four modular homes. Phase 2 of the youth ranch will be to incorporate small animals as part of therapy for the children. Phase 3 of the youth ranch will be to add infrastructure to the property for the purpose of art, nutrition classes, trainings for mentors/support team, etc. and will work to have thirty-two foster children continually in the homes and in the Roy Municipal Schools. Benefits for the Community Foster Children Facts  On any given day in New Mexico, nearly 2,500 children need short or long-term foster care.  Each year over 100 youth emancipate from the foster care system without a family.  A child in foster care misses their mother and father and does not have the words to tell you how he/she feels.  A child’s trust is a treasure and by having positive role models, a school full of possibilities, and a place to call home, we are allowing these children to trust again and look forward to their futures. Youth Ranch Phases  Increase the Village of Roy and surrounding areas population.  Increase the Roy Municipal Schools enrollment.  Involvement in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Four H (4-H).  Involvement in Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT, Inc).  Create job opportunities such as foster parenting, secretarial, accountant, grant writing, construction, security, ranch hands, social workers, therapists, etc.  Create community involvement by working to better the lives and well-being of our youth and to better the survival of our community.
