3 School Counseling Office
School counselors support academic achievement and student development. They provide direct services to students through interactions in the classroom, small and large group activities, individual student planning, and responsive services with counseling and crisis response. School counselors also serve as student advocates to promote academic, career, personal and social development. 4 Middle School Requirements
The requirements for students entering 6th grade in and beyond to be promoted to the ninth grade include successfully completing the following 12 core courses and the career course taken in 7th or 8th grade for a total of 13 courses

5 Middle School Requirements
6th 7th 8th ENGLISH X MATH SCIENCE SOCIAL STUDIES X* CAREER COURSE Any student scoring a 1 or 2 on the Reading or Math FCAT will be enrolled in Intensive classes. * Civics End-of-Course Exam will count 30% of the student’s final grade.

7 COURSE SELECTION The students’ tentative course request(s) will involve: the consideration of test scores student’s overall academic record teacher and staff recommendations, and student related interests

8 ELECTIVE COURSE SELECTIONS
We will do our best to accommodate Non-Academic classes: Art- one semester or full year P.E.- one semester or full year Band I- full year Chorus I- full year Orchestra I- full year

9 Criteria for Admission into Honors Courses
A willingness to enthusiastically enter into class discussions Advanced or proficient standardized FSA test results which correlate to target area(s) of study (Level 3 or higher) An ability to deal with special learning opportunities and some extra demands Consideration will be given to the student's overall academic record (not just one course) Determining factors include language skills, developed writing skills, consistent effort, attitude, and general academic performance

10 Criteria CONTINUED… Student willingness to meet the rigors of the course The interest and ability to be self-motivated and self-disciplined in order to work independently to develop their own personal work The student should demonstrate the sustained ability to keep up with all other course work

17 NNM TRACK CARD All students keep track of their own behavior on the Track card. Staff add their input on the Track Card for infractions. The card is placed in the binder (in a protective sleeve) and will be used as a Communication device for teachers, students, and parents throughout the year. Parents are required to sign the card every nine week.

18 DRESS CODE North Naples Middle School has a standardized form of dress!! TOPS Polo Style Shirts -Any solid color 2 or 3 button shirts only, starting from the collar Short sleeve or long sleeve 3 inches below waist of pants Shirt length no longer than fingertips (arms at sides) Tucked in (optional) No logo at all (exception-option to wear school sanctioned logo) Spirit t-shirts (every Friday) White undershirts only permitted under polo shirts

19 BOTTOMS Navy Blue, Khaki, Black Pants or Shorts
Long pants that sit at waist No denim, no athletic/sport-style shorts, no sweat/warm-up style pants Knee length shorts/ skorts that sit at waist No more than one size larger or smaller than student’s regular size Belts optional No skirts (exception for music department concert uniform which must be knee length or longer) No frayed edges or holes of any kind

20 OUTERWEAR & FOOTWEAR Solid colors only, no logo at all (exception- option to wear school sanctioned logo)  Polo shirts must be visible beneath the outerwear Closed toe, closed heel No heel height greater than one inch Original shoelaces must coordinate with shoe No flip flops Socks are solid color (white, khaki, navy, or black)
