1 Purposes of the standardized dress code for Community ISD include: Focusing the learning environment on academics Clarifying expectations & increasing accountability for both students and staff Ensuring safety & security for all campuses Developing pride, unity, & self- respect in our students Preparing students for real-world life experiences

2 Solid color polo-style or oxford-style button down shirts with collars. May be short-sleeved or long-sleeved. Shirts Solid turtle necks allowed Logos/emblems on shirts must be credit card size or smaller Undershirts must be solid color and not extend beyond the outer shirt Solid sweatshirts/sweaters/sweater vests may be worn over approved shirt. Collar of shirt must be visible.

3 Shirts Shirts must be tucked in at all times (Grades 6-12) Shirts may be untucked; preferably tucked (Grades PK-5) Designated Spirit Days allow for CISD school-affiliated t-shirts, sweaters, sweater vests with no logo/emblem size restriction. CISD spirit hoodies may be worn on Spirit Days only. Designated College Days allow for college/university t-shirts, shirts, sweaters, sweater vests with no logo/emblem size restriction. College hoodies may be worn on College Days only.

4 Must be flat-fronted or pleated khaki-style in the following solid colors: khaki (tan, brown, olive), black, navy blue, or gray. Cargo-style allowed. Can be worn outside of boots/shoes Jeans may be worn on designated Jeans Days only. Spirit Days and College Days do not mean Jean Days. Pants

5 Shorts, skirts, jumpers, and capris must be knee- length or longer while standing Belt loops are required, except skirts and jumpers (Grades 6-12) Belt loops are not required (Grades PK-5)

6 Overcoats/Coats/Jackets/Pullovers Coats are not restricted in size or color but must be removed and secured prior to the first class period Solid lightweight jackets/pullover may be worn to accommodate temperatures in classrooms Logos/emblems on lightweight jackets/pullovers must be credit card size or smaller CISD letter jackets may be worn & are not subject to size restrictions of logo/emblems CISD school affiliated organization/club jackets may be worn & not subject to size restrictions of logos/emblems

7 School awarded belt buckles such as FFA are allowed Belts must be worn and visible at all times (Grades 6-12) Belts are preferred but not required (Grades PK-5) Buckles must be fastened & belts must be worn inside belt loops (Grades 6-12) Belts may be any color of leather/canvas fabric Belts Belts may have grommets, brads, adornments, or rivets that are not safety concerns

8 Shoes & Socks Tennis shoes, western boots, dress shoes, or sandals may be worn Sandals must be closed-toe and have back strap (Grades PK-5) for safety reasons Matching socks of any color; shoes must be a matching set
