3. Lead-ins and Parenthetical Citations Reminder: For each quote or paraphrased line(s), you must include a lead-in and a parenthetical citation. That is, before you quote the text, you must introduce the information and after you quote the text, you must state from which source the material is included. EXAMPLES: o When George tells Lennie to “come right here an’ hide in the brush,” the reader is clued into Lennie’s past (Steinbeck 15). 4. Block Quote Reminder: (1 Required) Sometimes the author says it better than you can. If you have a quote that is more that 4 lines after it is typed, you need to create a block quote.
