2 Key Dates Training:Thursday 12 th August: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Thursday 19 th August: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Thursday 26 th August: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Thursday 2 nd September: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Thursday 9 th September: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Match 1:Monday 13 th September V Jets @ Highgate Rec Reserve, Craigieburn 2 Games – 6pm and 7.30pm Match 2:Monday 20 th September V Knights @ Highgate Rec Reserve, Craigieburn 2 Games – 10am and 11.30am

3 General Information Uniform:Players should wear their Calder U15 Long sleeve top to all matches and training sessions. Match Uniform: Any white shorts (Cannons if you have them) Match Jumper:As supplied. Your match jumper to be handed in at the conclusion of each Training and match. Squad Photo: Each player will receive a copy of the 2010 photo, which will also appear in our club year book. The photo will be taken later in program. 4 Squad Levy Cost – $ 90 Levy, includes the following: –7 Week Match/Training Program –Squad Top –Team Photo –Medical supplies, Insurance, coaching, ground hire etc –Match jumpers remain property of the club.

6 The Modern AFL Game  Fast paced, possession based game requiring high skill level, excellent decision making, elite endurance, athleticism and speed.  Cannons 2007 Averages Fitness testing  Ht - 186.5  Wt – 79  VJ – 63  20m 3.2 sec  Agility 9.2  Shuttle (Beep Test) 12.5  3km 11.24  AFL Draft Camp 2007 Averages  Ht – 188cm  Wt - 81 Kg  20m – 3.04 sec  VJ – 59 cm  Shuttle (Beep Test) – 13.4  Agility – 8.53  3km – 11.18

What do the following players all have in common? –Joel Selwood, David Wojcinski, Paul Chapman, Matthew Stokes, Shannon Byrnes, James Kelly, Jacob Surjan, Peter Burgoyne, Kane Cornes, David Rodan, Daniel Motlop, Daniel Pearce, Brad Ebert, Travis Boak. All 183cm or under & all played in the 2007 AFL Grand Final 9 out of the 22 Calder Cannons 2007 Premiership players were 183cm or under. 4 out of 7 Calder Cannons Draftees from 2007 were 183cm or under. Trend back toward smaller specialist type players –Lindsay Thomas, Cyril Rioli, Leeroy Jetta, Jason Porplyzia

8 Selection Criteria  Selection of players is based on the following:  Performance in club football, representative teams, school &/or trial matches  Potential to perform well in the TAC Cup  Ability to perform football skills  Adequate fitness and athleticism  Versatility and ability to play in a number of positions  Evidence of a positive attitude to training and commitment to team rules  Evidence of a desire to play at the TAC Cup level

9 A Successful TAC Cup Footballer Is always encouraged to continue their own personal development including improvement in fitness, core strength, diet, skills and knowledge of the game. Is a student of the game Is well organised, planned and self motivated Can play in a range of positions and is very athletic Has very good skills Is a balanced individual that focuses on family, school and football in that order

10 Injuries All injuries MUST be reported at training to staff. Club physio available for assessment at U’18 training Tuesday or Thursday’s. Recommend that you see you own local physio for treatment. Visits to Alphington clinic must be paid for, but may come at a discount rate. Club policy is that players should bring/wear mouth guards to all training sessions and matches.

11 What Next? 2011 Barry Davis Squad –Approx. 35-40 players will be selected to participate –U16 Modified Summer Training Program –Participation in the Metro Championships in April 2011 in preparation for U16 Vic. Metro state team. Development at different rates. What happens if I’m not selected? –Progress monitored at local, school & rep. games. –Future opportunities to take part in Cannons Dev. Matches and/or U16/U17 2011 Simon Madden Squad.
