Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 History The company has developed and delivered the manual bending machine from the 1991 to the 1996. From the 1996 up to the 2008, Finn-Power committed itself in the research and engineering of automatic bending machines by innovating it in the 2005 through the servo electric motors. Today, strong in the experience of the technologies obtained with the automatic systems, we have decided to transfer these advantages into the manual bending machine project, giving birth to the: FAST BEND

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 From the Press Brake to the Fast Bend From the manual bending, where the part has to perform the bending movement with 3 stressing points on the sheet and the need to turn manually the part in order to carry out bending inversions… … to the new system, where the panel is held still and only one bending side is moved, by taking to just one stressing point on the sheet.

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 No special tools are required Fast Bend can perform these bends just using standard tools. Special press brake tools Is necessary to perform radius or smashed bends with the press brakes…

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 The Fast Bend benefits are even more evident when the profiles panels have different shapes and dimensions. Not tools set up and fast bending sequence

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Press brake vs Panel Bender Fast Bend

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Height bending capability Furthermore, it is possible to perform profiles that can not be done with the press brakes, like tubular profiles.

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 1 Servo electric motor with air cooling - Very low maintenance cost - No influence by thermal condition - Excellent component quality - High reliability 2 Easy and intuitive programmability - Very fast production - Independent from operator skill - Auto learning program 3 Reduced factory impact - Lower tooling cost - Favourable energy saving - Minimum noise and vibrations - Very compact layout - Easy installation without foundation “FBe” Advantages & Peculiarities

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Servo electric motor with air cooling This technology brings several advantages such as: -Very low maintenance cost due to the better utilization of energy and power (only when it is needed) -No warm-up cycles with Servo electric motor doesn’t need any and is not influenced by thermal conditions like the fluid of the hydraulic systems -High reliability – the bending force is automatically calculated for every bend granting a reduction of electric consumption as well as the wearing or stress of mechanical components

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Rolling mode Circular mode - Better component quality thanks to the two different interpolation bending methods and a more controlled movement

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Easy and intuitive programmability The Bend Express is a very quick and intuitive program thanks to its graphical instructions. Fast Bend is also skilled-operator-free. In fact, the only operator’s duty is to load the panel, turn it to change the panel side and unload it when finished. With the Barcode Reader option the loading of an operative bending program is automatic

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Reduced factory impact Fast Bend has an average power consumption similar to hydraulic press brake Machine type Average consump. 16 Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 With Fast Bend and its servo electric technology there is also an energy recovering during the brake movement with reduction of the energy cost

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Compact Layout Only covers and working table will be dismount for transportation Easy and fast installation, Fast bend doesn’t require any foundation Reduced impact in the manufacturing environment.

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 The machine, of derivation from the EBe4 or EBe5, mainly uses the press with all the elements connected to it, with exception for specific elements that customize it. Specifically, the parts that correspond to the EBe are: 1. Press EBe 2. Bending group EBe 3. Upper tool EBe 4. BT1,BT2, BT3 EBe 5. Electric cabinet EBe 6. Bending blades EBe 7. 20 Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 New components Sheet feeder Sheet back gauges Bending lower tool Working tables Hydraulic unit Safety barriers Safety systems New hardware

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 SHEET FEEDER Sheet feeder is the new FastBend sheet gripping device. NC-controlled horizontal slide, commanded by a ball screw moved by a Brushless motor Vertical slide, with pneumatic control. The gripping devices: with suction cups (Standard) with magnetic grip for magnetic punched sheets.

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008  The sheet back gauges allow the correct positioning of the sheet before bending each side.  They are formed by two pins with horizontal movement and independently NC-controlled.  The two back gauges are separately assembled onto the ASP carriages BACK GAUGES

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008  The lower tool is different from the EBe/BCe only for the cavities, in order to obtain the the closest position of the sheet feeder. lower tool LOWER TOOL The working table has two functions:  To support the sheet to be processed.  To be a safety equipment for the operator. WORKING TABLE The table is equipped with two sliding sheet supports to be used when machining sheets of big dimensions.

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 The hydraulic unit is of limited dimensions, 3Kw, and it is used just for service actions like tools locking, upper tool and ATC Technical characteristics  Installed power 3 Kw  Oil capacity 30 I  High working pressure 200 bar  Low working pressure 135 bar HYDRAULIC UNIT

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 Safety barriers to avoid the access to the danger are located in front and at the sides of the machine. Two lateral doors with electro lock and safety micro switch, for ASP / AUT set-up. In the rear side, it is provided two doors with key locks and safety micro switches for maintenance purposes. SAFETY BARRIERS In the front side of the machine, there are photoelectric barriers. They are incorporated into the safety fences in order to ensure the operator safety during the use.

Bending Technology ROBERTO DE ROSSI 19 OCTOBER 2008 HARDWARE It has been used the new Siemens numerical controls series - Sinumerik 840D Solution Line – with drives from Sinamics family. Advantages are : Simplification of the wiring “Safety integrated” Hardware auto-knowledge connected to the system Possibility to remote the drives on the machine Siemens Safety Integrated system. Every safety input and output signal is based on two different channel to have a redundant information. There are also monitoring tasks that, if activated, control the axis behavior and activate the security condition as there are violations on the set state. If errors occur due to differences on the two channels, rather than passing the limits set for the functions, the stop operations trigger.
