Due to the nature of the group it would be better to deal with each section in turn. Reading it as a group and explaining what each question means. Once completed move on to some new work: Size Matters p38 and 39 Again work through the spread bit at a time. If all this is completed, students can attempt the size matters homework activity sheet and then complete it for homework.

2 P310sc9 Room 5 Students should use the computers to find the following: The overall stopping distances (broken into thinking distances and braking distances) for a car at different speeds. Research the factors that can affect thinking distance and try an on line simulator, http://www.stoppingdistances.org.uk/simulator/Stopping _Distances.html http://www.stoppingdistances.org.uk/simulator/Stopping _Distances.html Research the factors that can affect braking distances. Find out how a Gatso speed camera works. Find out how road surfaces and layout helps road safety. Get all this information into their books for next lesson.

3 P4 8w/sc2Room 2 Science Works 2 books p 40 - 43 The Cost of Food The first spread goes over the reasons for intensive farming methods and the effect on the natural environment. Students should work through the questions answering IN SENTENCES. Once done they can move on to p42 and 43 about the future of food production. Extension: The human population continues to rise at a frightening rate. Use the ideas you have encountered to write about what could be done for the planet to have a sustainable future?
