5. Read Titles and Subtitles Measuring Motion Observing Motion Speed Depends on Distance and Time Velocity: Direction Matters

6. Look for BOLD or italicized The rate at which an object moves is its speed. The speed of an object in a particular direction is its velocity. Note the relationship between speed and velocity. Figure 3 shows how you can combine velocities to determine the resultant velocity.
