Title Science Fair Project Names School Grade Teacher Note: This slide goes on the back of your board on the top right. No names on front so that it is fair during judging. Make sure that you design a large title on the front of your board. Create a unique title for what you are doing!

Problem See the problem listed on page 5 of your Science Fair Handbook.

Research Think of these questions as you write your research in PARAGRAPH FORM! ( 4+ paragraphs needed) – Why do we need bridges? List ALL reasons that you can think of and that you’ve researched and look up what is happening with bridges and infrastructure in the United States. – Describe the types of bridges that exist? Include positives and negatives of each type, include costs, areas where each bridge is most commonly built, and what generally crosses the bridge type. – What are the physical forces that act on bridges, and how do they affect bridge design? – How does weather play a role in bridge designing? Look up soil conditions, moisture, climate, weather patterns.

Research Second slide for continued research.

Possible Solutions Think of possible solutions for bridge design ideas. What ideas did you discuss as a group? Did you have any disagreements or problems that you faced while drawing your proto-types for bridge designs? On these slides, you want to upload any pictures and/or drawings of your initial ideas when you got together as a group. Show everything that you discussed and what your thought process was like! Take pictures of the FIRST bridge that you sketched and built, and then tested.

Possible Solutions This may be helpful: *You can create this. Insert a table. Type of BridgeProsCons Beam List ideas Arch List ideas Suspension List ideas Truss List ideas

Chosen Solution / Prototype  This should show an actual photograph of your final bridge design, and drawings of different views of your model: front view, top view, side view.  Also, write what you did to change your initial model and make the chosen solution more effective.

Materials List material List ALL materials that you used in the designing and building process!!

Procedure Write your detailed procedure! This procedure should be able to be followed by someone who had no idea what you did and was not a part of your group. This means that if a certain step is not easy to describe ONLY in words, you should draw a simple sketch or take pictures to go along with the words to help describe what you mean.

Results / Analysis Add any pictures, sketches, diagrams, data tables, graphs that you took with your phone or camera, and created. *You may ask the teacher if he/she has any pictures of your group working. Give any results and pictures of your bridge design in action (holding weight)! – You may use the sheet labeled “Bridge Results” to record your findings and create a data table and graph as the weight was added to your bridge.

Conclusion What did you find? Were you successful? What might you do differently next time? What did you learn? What questions do you still have?

References List any and ALL references that you used while conducting this engineering design project.
