2 Conclusion Paragraph – Must haves a restatement of the thesis statement, using some of the original language or language that "echoes" the original language. (The restatement, however, must not be a duplicate thesis statement.) a summary of the three main points from the body of the paper. a final statement that gives the reader signals that the discussion has come to an end. (This final statement may be a "call to action" in a persuasive paper.)

3 Remember your paragraphs should be 5-7 sentences, so use these ideas to help enhance your conclusion paragraph!

4 Here is a brief list of things that you might accomplish in your concluding paragraph(s).* There are certainly other things that you can do, and you certainly don't want to do all these things. They're only suggestions: Use a quotation. Evoke a vivid image through a metaphor or imagery. (Imagery and metaphors gain you bonus points) End with a warning. Suggest results or consequences. Include a CLINCHER – your last opportunity to connect with the audience. Hint* Emotion is great way to connect to your audience. Complete the anecdote or scenario that you used to introduce you speech.

5 WORKS CITED EVERYONE MUST INCLUDE A RATIONAL/LOGICAL APPEAL IN THEIR SPEECH THEREFORE EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE LOCATED AN ARTICLE AND FOUND A FACT OR EVIDENCE TO INCLUDE IN THEIR SPEECH AS THEIR RATIONAL/LOGICAL APPEAL. *REMEMBER YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERT ON THIS TOPIC, SO YOU CAN’T JUST MAKE UP YOUR OWN FACT! You simply have an opinion.

9 IMPORTANT Everyone’s speech MUST Have a works cited page. The Works Cited page is a separate page from the speech. (It is has it’s own piece of paper) Remember the works cited page SHOULD BE titled Works Cited

10 Visual Aid Remember part of the assignment grade is to have a visual aid. Should be on a poster Must enhance your persuasive speech Must be appropriate for school Be creative Due Wednesday – Speeches will begin on Wednesday!

11 Due Date Changed Speech is to be turned into turnitin.com by Monday October 31 st no later than 10 p.m. Must have a printed out hard copy in class ready to highlight on Tuesday (do not ask me to go print it out) Take care of it on your own time. Speech on note cards and visual aid due Wednesday!
