3 Nature of the Work There are quite a bit of important work activities I am expected to do as a chef. One of the most important things I would need to be able to do is communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates, which includes providing information by telephone, written form, e- mail, or in person. Another thing I am expected to do is send and receive information, I need to be able to guide, direct, and motivate subordinates, such as setting performance standards and monitoring performance. 4 Abilities Required I need to make sure I have the right abilities as a chef. For example, enterprising, being realistic, and being artistic or creative. For enterprising, I need to be able to run my own business and restaurant. To be realistic, I need to set my goals, I need to make sure they aren’t too complicated and unrealistic. Also, being creative brings out my own personality into my cooking.

5 Knowledge and Skills To become a chef, I need to have specific knowledge and skills. This includes, being able to run and manage a business, being able to handle money, customer and personal service, languages, and mathematics. Management is especially important because I need to be able to run my own business. Mathematics is also very important because I have to do a lot of measuring when I cook, and also for a business, I need to be able to manage my money. Languages can also help me out a lot because a lot of chefs travel all around the world and discover foods from different countries.
