2 Where were the Great Plains?
Plains Native Americans lived on the Great Plains of central North America from north of what is today the Canadian border to present-day southern Texas.

3 Shelter The Indians of the northern Great Plains lived in earth lodges. Each round earth lodge was home to several families.

4 Shelter About twice a year the villages emptied as the men, women and children took part in a great buffalo hunt. During their hunts they built shelters that were easy to move called Teepees.

5 Food Because most of the land is dry Plains Native Americans settled along rivers and grew crops such as corn, beans, squash, and pumpkins Buffalo was plentiful, therefore it became a major source of meat for the Plains Natives

7 The buffalo were an important resource to the Indians of the Great Plains. Plains Indians often disguised themselves in wolf skins when hunting.
