Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Checks Christine D’Cruz disclosures@warwick.ac.uk 02476 573867

Applying for a DBS check You MUST have an Enhanced DBS check with the Children’s Barred list check in order to participate in the WinS programme. You would have received an e-mail containing a PIN number to submit an online application and the list of acceptable ID documents Submit your application as soon as possible for verification * When completing the address section you can list either your term time address OR your home address (UK only) as your current address. Please note: you will be required to provide an item of ID to confirm the address you list as your current address. You must list ALL addresses that you have lived at within the last five years.

Applying for a DBS check You will need to provide three original items of ID to support your application: * One item of photo ID from Group One. * One item of ID to confirm the address listed as your current address on the application. * One further item of ID from the list. Bring your original ID documents, and photocopies, to the DBS ID drop in session on Wednesday 11th November in University House at the back of the café (CMR.01). Times: 09.00 –14.00

Non-UK Criminal Record Checks If you have lived in an overseas country in the last five years (for a continuous period of six months or more) you will also need to provide us with evidence of good conduct from those countries. Comprehensive country specific information is available on the DBS website: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal- records-checks-for-overseas-applicantshttps://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal- records-checks-for-overseas-applicants You should not delay completion of your UK DBS application whilst awaiting this information: the DBS application and the non-UK check can be in process simultaneously. The deadline for receipt of the non-UK check is Monday 11 th January. An official translation may also be required if the document is not written in English.

Accepting an existing disclosure If you have a University of Warwick DBS check that was issued after the 17 th of June 2013, then you may be able to use this check for your placement. Please e-mail disclosures@warwick.ac.uk for further information. disclosures@warwick.ac.uk Unfortunately we cannot accept a disclosure obtained through Warwick Volunteers – this is because volunteer DBS checks are issued free of charge, but WinS does not count as a voluntary activity. Also, if you have a disclosure that was issued by an organisation that is not the University of Warwick, then we will not be able to accept this certificate. You will have to obtain a new DBS check.
