11 11 Local COAD Mission: To bring together voluntary agencies, faith-based organizations, private sector partners, and governmental agencies from a smaller geographic area to foster a more effective response to those impacted by a disaster. Role: Coordination, not service delivery Main Activities:  Advocate for Preparedness and Hazard Mitigation  Planning (e.g. developing tool kits and resource manuals)  Training and Exercises  Convening the group following a disaster  Forming the Long Term Recovery Committee

14 14 Long Term Recovery Committee Purpose: To advocate, coordinate and prioritize recovery assistance to those with unmet needs following a disaster. Primary Role:  Minimize duplication of services  Assess individual needs via a Case Manager  Link individuals and families with resources/service providers  Recruit and manage volunteers  Organize and distribute donated goods Membership  Type of disaster  Unmet needs of community  Geographic area impacted  Personnel/Resource Availability
