10. THE TEN MOST COMMON CODE VIOLATIONS

11. 1.Overgrown Grass and/or Weeds Grass and/or weeds can not exceed 6 inches in height on improved property. Grass and/or weeds can not exceed 18 inches in height on vacant, unimproved property.

12. 2.Accumulation of Junk and Debris Accumulation of junk and debris such as appliances, furniture, automobile parts, tires, vegetation cuttings, building materials, paper, cardboard and other trash cannot be left in the yard or public right-of-way areas.

13. 3.Inoperable and Unlicensed Vehicles All vehicles must be operational and have a valid registration tag attached, unless stored inside a completely enclosed structure.

14. 4.Commercial Equipment and Vehicles Are not permitted to park on residential property or in residential areas between the hours of 9:00 pm and 6:00 am, unless stored in a completely enclosed structure.

15. 5.Signs Signs are prohibited on the City right-of-way. Signs are prohibited to be placed on utility poles, trees, fences or in medians or anywhere throughout the City.

16. 6.Garbage Cans Garbage cans are prohibited on the street prior to 6:00 p.m. the night before pick-up and must be moved back 25 feet from the property line by 9:00 p.m. on garbage pick- up day. Do not place bulk trash on the swale more than 24 hours before a City wide pick-up.

17. 7.Parking Residential property owners are required to provide onsite paved parking, regardless of when the property was built. The number of parking spaces required are based on the number of permitted dwelling units. Parking on an unpaved surface, such as gravel or grass, is not allowed.

18. 8.Building Permits Always check with the Building Division prior to doing any work to ascertain whether a permit is required. A permit is required to construct, enlarge, alter, move, remove, or demolish any building, structure or part thereof.

19. 9.Unleashed Dogs Dogs are required to be on a leash when in public. Dogs are not allowed in any of the City parks or beaches. When walking your dog, it is your responsibility to pick-up the dog’s waste. Ensure your dog’s barking is controlled and does not disturb your neighbors.

20. 10.Illegal Conversions Increasing the number of living units to the exterior or interior of a residential structure is an illegal conversion and is not permitted. Regardless of how long the units have existed, once discovered, the City will require closure and/or removal of the illegal units.
