PDA MTL Session October 18, 2011

Learning Intention and Success Criteria We are learning how our MTL work will be categorized in PDA. We will be successful when we can articulate how we will enter our MTL work into PDA.

What have you been doing? Think about all of the activities you have been doing for the past two months. Write each activity on a separate post-it note.

Let’s Categorize our Activities Working with your table group, sort the post-it notes into two categories: ◦ Activities where you worked with more than one teacher. “Professional Development” ◦ Activities where you worked one-on-one with a teacher. “Coaching/Modeling”

Professional Development At your table, just look at the activities where you worked with more than one teacher. Sort the post-it notes into broad categories and record those titles on chart paper. ◦ What were teachers supposed to learn? Under each broad category, record the specific activities that were consistent at your table.

Coaching/Modeling At your table, just look at the activities where you worked one-on-one with a teacher. Sort the post-it notes into broad categories and record those titles on chart paper. ◦ What was the teacher supposed to learn as a result of your support? Under each broad category, record the specific activities that were consistent at your table.

PDA Structure Courses for Professional Development ◦ More than one teacher Sessions Activities Courses for Coaching/ Modeling ◦ One-on-one teacher support Sessions Activities

What’s Next? Using your suggestions from this session, the Math Team will complete the PDA Course and Session templates. Once you receive those completed templates, you can start to enter your work in PDA. This is a great opportunity to showcase the support you are providing to math teachers! This is not evaluative in any way.

Timeline Once you receive the completed templates, you will need to begin entering your current work as soon as possible. Please back-enter your work, as much as is feasible, before winter break.

Questions Please write questions on a post-it note.

Learning Intention and Success Criteria We are learning how our MTL work will be categorized in PDA. We will be successful when we can articulate how we will enter our MTL work into PDA.
