2 Purpose of the Presentation Community Games Is to answer two key questions: 1.How do ‘Community Games’ benefit my Community? 2.How does raising money for Cancer Teenage Trust through ‘Community Games’ benefit my Community? In Partnership with

4 Community Games Why would I put on a Community Games? Great opportunity to bring the community together. A recognisable brand and support from local partners. An obvious link to Sport, the Olympics & Culture. Access to resources/funds Great way to develop volunteers and organiser skills. Great fun – be part of the Community Games! 5 Community Games Nottinghamshire local setup: Funds distributed evenly across district partners by CSP. Resources distributed evenly across district partners. Training and support co-ordinated by Sport Nottinghamshire (CSP) Marketing and Promotional support from Sport Nottinghamshire, District & National Partners. Volunteer Support Our District Partners

6 Community Games What resources are available locally? Most districts are awarding grants of up to £200 per event (Varies) Available for loan:  Bunting  Banners Available for use:  Promotional Posters/Cards  Certificates Example Branding

7 Community Games What training is available? E-Learning package or Face to Face workshops All free of charge Support from district co-ordinators and Sport Nottinghamshire It lasts about 3 hrs. It is not mandatory E-Learning Training Content “The content provides practical information on a range of event planning topics such as Promotion, Planning, Key Contacts, Health and Safety, Evaluation, Fundraising, Ideas for Events and Cultural Aspects. It is split up in to a number of easy to remember bite sized chunks. Along the way there are small tasks to complete to aid your learning. 8 Community Games What are the features of a Community Games? Be community-driven Be local, accessible and convenient Be multi-activity Be fun, friendly and open to all Reflect and celebrate the communities diversity Encourages post event activity Includes both sporting and cultural events and some sort of ceremony, ideally an opening and/or closing ceremony. 9 Community Games Fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust What are the benefits to fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust? You can help to raise money towards the £400,000 needed to build a 5 bed Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. You will be supported by an on the ground Regional Fundraiser Your event can be promoted on the charity website and East Midlands Facebook pagecharity websiteEast Midlands Facebook page You can access volunteers to support your games The charity has great local media relationships and can help promote your event using media contacts Participants will be enthused by collecting sponsorship and seeing their money spent locally You can make a real difference to local young people living with cancer
