15. Teaching Space Predictive Model The project took as its basis the Space Need Indicator Framework developed by Kilner Planning. This is a tool developed to enable universities to gain an enhanced understanding of; the capacity of their estate; discrepancies between the space available and the type of space needed and the effect of changes in numbers of staff, students and in methods of academic delivery on space needs.

16. Teaching Space Predictive Model Information was taken from the timetabling software database Applied certain variables, the model calculated how many rooms of a certain size were required. The variables used were: –the number of standard teaching hours in a week, –the optimum capacity and frequency the University wished to achieve –the standard size (square metre) per workplace dependent on the type of teaching activity. By changing the variables it was possible to see how much space was being used, compared to how much space would be required for the University to provide sufficient space to timetable within the boundaries, as laid out in the University Timetabling Principles
