4. » WWII Female Air Force Pilots Still Flying High. » During World War II, a group of women took a bold step in aviation. While male pilots were sent overseas, the Women Air Force Service Pilots took up the war effort on the home front. From 1943 to 1944, they logged over 60 million miles across the U.S., flying 77 types of military aircraft to haul supplies and conduct training exercises. » This made me feel independent. Just because I was a woman doesn’t mean I had to act like one!

5. My own stamp! I felt so honored. I was named “Pioneer Pilot” Look who earned their wings! Today millions are earning their silver wings due to their hard work and bravery.

6. This was my letter from President Eisenhower. Explaining how I earned my trophy. I was so excited because I felt that it was the biggest honor to receive a letter from The president. This was my plan on how I was going to train the other ladies in the air force. This is how I was rated back in the day. I received all “excellent.” The British sent me a letter to ask me to join their squad, the ATA.
