FES State of the Schools

Reading – 85% of FES students will meet or exceed state standards on the MCA-II in reading. We will improve scores on DIBELS assessments in grades K-2 from the fall to spring. The percentage of students achieving “benchmark” on the spring assessment will increase by 5% or more. The percentage of students achieving “at risk” in the spring of 2013 will decrease by 5%. 85% of all reading teachers will be actively involved in the professional learning communities that focus on best practices in reading.

Math – 85% of FES students will meet or exceed state standards on the MCA-III in math. Math fact practice data will be compiled by 2nd and 3rd grade teachers four times during the year with a goal of 85% proficiency in grade level assessments by the last assessment period. 85% of all math teachers will be actively involved in the professional learning communities that focus on best practices in math.

Technology – We will commit a minimum of three hours of technology integration time with a focus on math and online resources.

With the change in MCA tests for last year, the proficiency rates were dramatically reduced across the state. So, while we didn’t achieve the 85% that we were hoping to achieve for our goal, we were significantly above state and regional averages in both assessments.

Reading and Math DIBELs data was reviewed by data team and all staff Reading Of the 18 data points, FES met or exceeded goals in 10 of the DIBELs tests. Some of the levels were difficult to meet because the proficient percentage was so high in the fall that it was difficult to increase the 5% in order to achieve our goal. Math Of the 12 data points, FES met or exceeded goals in 9 of the math assessments

PLC Groups met bi-monthly to work on and learn more about effective math and reading interventions Time for technology learning was embedded in each building staff development day. The majority of our work time was devoted to learning more about the use of iPads in the classroom.

The proficiency average of FES 3 rd graders will be at 10 points or higher than the state average on the MCA-III in reading and math. We will improve scores on DIBELS reading assessments in grades K-2 from fall to spring. The percentage of students achieving “benchmark” on the spring assessment will increase by 5% or more. The percentage of “at risk” students will decrease by 5%. Math fact practice data will be compiled by 1 st -3 rd grade teachers four times during the year with a goal of 85% of the students being proficient in grade level assessments by the last assessment period. Individual teachers will be piloting the FAST assessment in preparation for a possible assessment transition in 2014-2015.

Technology We will commit a minimum of two hours of technology integration time with a focus on online resources and iPad applications. PLC 100% of all teachers will participate in professional learning communities that focus on best practices in reading and math.
