2 My Secret Place My ________________place is_____________ where I go to ____________________. I see_____like _____________. I feel____________.

3 Haiku 3 lines– visualize feel nature. Most are written with 5-7-5 syllabes Now then, let’s go out To enjoy the snow.. Until I slip and fall, ouch!

4 Haiku involving the senses Building a mental picture with words is called imagery. The most effective imagery involves more then visual image it involves touch, taste, smell and hearing. Sleep on horseback, The far moon in a continuing dream, Steam of roasting tea. (feel the horse, warmth and smell of tea, sensation of being asleep)

5 Example My secret place is in my grandma’s closet. In the closet are my grandfather’s ties hanging like jangling snakes.

10 Refrain and Echo example I used to be a boulder but the rain came down. I was big and round but the rain come down I was hard and tough but the rain came down. I didn’t want to get older But the rain came down. At first I didn’t notice any change but the rain came down. Centuries came and went but the rain came down. I became just a rock but the rain came down That’s enough, leave me along I cried, but the rain came down. Even though it was soft and weak The rain came down And wore me into the ground, And still the rain came down.
