9 Let’s make it easier No longer required to prove rabies vaccination to purchase license. – Still required to obtain rabies vaccinations however. Same license fee for altered and intact. – No longer required to prove spay/neuter. – Will encourage spay/neuter through other means. – 94% of currently licensed pets are altered, higher fees may be preventing others from obtaining the license.

10 Let’s add value Free-ride home program authorized – Provides tangible benefit to those who license their pets. – Licensed lost or stray pets will be taken home instead of to the shelter. – One time per year- no ticket for running at large – No shelter fees if the owner is home when the pet is returned, half fees if the owner cannot be located. – Amnesty on $25 late fees until May 1, 2012.

11 Revenue is restricted Funds support Animal Health and Public Safety, including improved care and treatment of animals at the shelter. Periodic reports on revenue and expenditures will be provided to the Finance and Audit Committee to ensure funds are not used for any other purpose.
