21 21 Solaris Containers: Dynamic Resource Pools  Designed to group chosen resources such as CPUs, memory, I/O connections  A pool can be associated with CPUs (a pset) and a scheduler  CPUs can be assigned:  dynamically, by configuring a minimum and maximum number of CPUs that a zone or pool should use  by Solaris when it decides to transfer CPUs among existing pools with 'threshold' and 'importance' parameters  statically, by 'pinning' a CPU to a pool – useful to ensure that a process stays on a CPU and doesn't share the CPU's cache  A CPU is moved between pools when an 'important' workload surpasses its utilization threshold for a sufficient period of time
