2 What is DriveWorksEZ (DWEZ)? A software system that provides the means to create custom drive functionality inside the basic drive. The system is composed of two main components: Special G7 drive software with an independent function block based controller. A PC tool for programming and monitoring the G7 controller. 3 To allow the customer to easily create custom functionality in the drive without adding cost. Provide system integrators and OEM’s the means to create value-added functionality to the drive. Distribute control away from the PLC. Expanding the system (adding a drive), adds processing power without burdening the PLC. Goals

4 Customers must complete training before receiving the PC software tool ($1500 net for class and CD). Classes are given at Yaskawa. Check the web. No PC tool distribution limitations. The G7 software must ordered per drive in the same manner as CASE software (CIMR-G7U*-087). The list price adder is $200 per drive. Support will be given only to those who have attended the class. Support will be limited to PC tool and function block issues. Application support will not be given. Program Requirements

5 The customer can create a custom program for the drive much easier than in CASE. Utilizes all of the drive’s I/O including 2 channels of PG feedback and several option cards. Access to drive speed and torque commands. All drive monitors are available. Numerous (~270) numeric and digital functions are available to create complex control functions. Data can be passed between drive (DWEZ program) and any network protocol (Dedicated communication registers). Key Features

6 PC tool utilizes drag & drop graphical function blocks to create the program. Input and output values of the function blocks can be monitored on line via the PC tool. Initialization of DriveWorksEZ is possible separate from the standard drive initialization. Subroutines can be created and reused in future programs. Key Features

13 A DWEZ program plus data is called a project. A program is divided into pages (maximum of 8). A subroutine can be created that can be used in the open project or imported into other projects. The program monitor displays the value of each connection on the page. A function block toolbar contains all of the function blocks available. Function blocks are dragged and dropped onto a page from the toolbar. A project navigator window allows the user to switch between pages and other displayed data. PC Tool

14 The project navigator provides access to different program pages and other data associated with this drive. Parameters for certain blocks are called properties. These properties appear in the properties window. –The user can easily set all of the parameters for the selected block through input fields and drop down menus. –Descriptions of each parameter along with setting limits are displayed. The function block toolbar contains all of the available function blocks. The blocks are organized into separate tabs according to their function. PC Tool

15 The block design contains different line input and output connectors for digital and numeric signals. The program page window displays the program graphically displayed. The function blocks are connected with lines that represent the connection parameters. When the monitor function is turned on, the current values at the connections are displayed on top of the connection line. PC Tool

19 The intelligent choice for distributed control DriveWorksEZTM provides “Function on Demand”, allowing the customer to customize and adapt the G7 to their machine needs in a fast and intuitive manor. The G7 with DriveWorksEZ can independently provide a complete machine solution for many applications, eliminating the need for PLCs or other controllers. This means reduced cost, design simplicity, and one-source responsibility. Conclusion
