6. GRADE LEVEL FLUENCY GOALS When completing running records with a student, these standards should be used as guidelines. These are end of the year standards so students will be working towards these goals for the entire year. *CWPM= Correct Words Per Minute *The chart above is based on the Georgia Performance Standards.*

8. TESTING READING FLUENCY 1.Print a passage and time the student reading for one minute. 2.Count up how many words the student read in the one minute. 3.Count up the errors the student made. 4.Divide the CWPM by WPM and multiply by 100. Example: Kate read 105 words in one minute. She made 3 mistakes. 102/105 x 100 = 97% accuracy This passage is on Kate’s independent reading level. (Keep in mind that a student should also comprehend at least 80% of what they have read. )
