Can we get funding for people who live outside Manchester or do all our learners have to be Manchester residents? We’re running activities for people who are unemployed but we’ve got a few people who have part time/casual/low paid work who want to join – can we get funding for them?

15 Registers Why we need the information How we use the information

16 Flexible Learning Where a learner has to miss a class but is helped to catch up with the work It is helpful to record flexible learning, as it demonstrates the difference between: a learner who misses some sessions but keeps in contact with the teacher and keeps up with the course by doing work at home (and is therefore an ‘active learner’ and part of the teacher’s case load) and a learner who is likely to go on to withdraw Occasional absence If a learner needs to be absent for a session and tells the teacher in advance or just before the class, the teacher can give the learner work to do at home and immediately write F in the register for that learner. Recording on registers Where a learner is marked as F, they are included in the total attendance box on the register as an attendance.
