10 What can you do to ensure success?  Start STRONG with SUMMER WORK!!!! Don't fall behind because your grade is cumulative. It will be hard to recover if you don't start off on the right foot.  Take advantage of tutorials early in the school year!!!!  Be proactive and plan study groups with your classmates outside of school (Order pizza and coke and make it a party! Mom and dad won't mind).  Don't be afraid to approach your AP teacher if there is content you don't understand or you need extra help!! They expect AP students to be self-motivated and to seek help when it is needed!!!!

11 In their own words:  Taking an AP course will be more difficult than a high school course, but if you pay attention, study, and have faith in yourself you can earn college credit. - Katie Griffin  Make sure you are prepared for the AP test. - Katelyn Sutton  Take the AP classes seriously. Not only can you get credit for college but they really prepare you for college. Also, I would say the biggest thing is that you may not realize it at the time but taking AP classes really helps you determine what kind of work ethic you are going to need for college. By taking these classes it shows you what is expected in a college course. In a high school course you are mostly reciprocating information whereas in college you are mostly using critical thinking skills. - Daniel Pelham

12 In their own words:  I would definitely say to take AP classes IF you have done well in school so far and know that you are willing to put in the EXTRA EFFORT. They are more challenging but if you work hard you will be fine and can make an A or B for sure, and it's really great if you can pass the AP test and get that college credit! -Natalie Yarbrough

13 Top Ten Criteria  Calculated at End of Third Term  Current Year Academic GPA (ELA, Math, SC, SS, Spanish)  Must have 3 or more Honor's, AP, or Dual Enrollment courses to qualify each year
