1 Nutrition and Wellness Chapter 3 12/3/12 Students will finish Chapter 2 Test Eating for Your Future Parts 3 and 4 Recipe Search tomorrow in Computer lab

2 USDA Dietary Recommendation At least 30 minutes of physical activity each day 10% of calories from saturated fats Eat at least two cups of fruits and two and a half cups of vegetables each day Eat at least 3 ounces of whole grains each day. Drink at least 3 cups of low fat milk each day or other dairy products. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.

3 Healthy Recipe Search In your group you will look for recipes online, magazines or recipe books and find at least five recipes - Table 1 Breakfast Table 2 Lunch Table 3 Dinner Table 4 Side Dish Table 5 Dessert

4 Copy and paste or type recipe into a recipe template: Template is found on Mrs. Molter Fusion site in Recipe folder. Make sure your put the nutrients in the recipe. Extra Credit: Find appetizers or finger foods

5 Nutrition and Wellness SWBAT: find recipes that are healthy and easy to prepare EARLY WORK Using you recipe from yesterday, Write your recipe name on the board under the meal category you were assigned. Be prepared to share with the class why you choice your recipe and what nutrients make your recipe healthy.

14 C is for CHOOSE SENSIBLY Choose a diet that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol and moderate in total fat. Choose beverages and foods to moderate your intake of sugars. Choose and prepare foods with less salt. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day If you drink alcoholic beverages, do so in moderation.
