Agenda Installation and Configuration Standard Features Standard vs. eConnect Adapters Alternatives Resources Integration Demonstrations

Installation and Configuration Install eConnect (first) and Integration Manager from the Dynamics GP setup screen eConnect requires a domain user (dedicated) and a SQL or Windows account to connect to your database. Integration Manager must be registered on each installed client (Registration keys available on Customer Source). Best Practice – use a shared Integration Manager database for all users.

Standard Features Insert and Update (or both) integrations Supports transactional and master record integrations in Financial, Payables, Receivables, SOP, Payroll, Inventory and Multi-Currency (Exchange Rate). Supports source data from Excel, Access, SQL, Oracle, XML, text files, and legacy databases such as dBase/FoxPro. Ability to run VB Scripts at various points in the integration or when specific events occur. Ability to run integrations from the command line using the runtime engine (IMRun.exe).

Standard Adapter Pros and Cons More fully supports the various modules within Microsoft Dynamics GP. Uses the Dynamics GP UI for the integrations. Client must be logged onto Dynamics GP (with sufficient rights) and all GP windows must be closed. Integration speed can be slow. The standard adapter is not suitable for large volume integrations.

eConnect Adapter Pros and Cons Does not fully support the various modules within Microsoft Dynamics GP. Uses the eConnect API for integrations. Does not require a client to be logged into Dynamics GP to run the integration. Very fast integrations. If the integration type is supported, the eConnect adapter should be your choice.

Alternatives eConnect (API) Dynamics GP Web Services (uses eConnect API) Smart Connect from eOne Solutions (uses eConnect) additionally can purchase Node Builder Zap! Integrations from Computeration Scribe Software Dynamics GP Excel Paste from Dynamics Innovations
