Plant Life Cycles Order the stages in the life cycle of a flowering plant. Pollination Development of seeds Dispersal of seeds Germination of seeds Growing plant Flowering

What are the main organs of a flowering plant? 1 4 3 2 stigma stamen ovary petal What are their functions? The female part where the pollen sticks. The male part, it has a stalk and an anther where the pollen is. The box that contains the ovule (undeveloped seeds) and later the seeds. Bright colours attract pollinators.

Helping Plants Grow Well What are the names of the labelled parts? Where does the plant take in water? How does the water travel through the plant?

Roots Roots anchor the plant to the ground (or other habitat) to give it stability. Roots draw water and minerals from the soil which pass up the stem to the leaves and flowers. When a plant grows it sometimes needs moving to a bigger pot. Why will it be better for the plant to be in a bigger pot?

INVESTIGATION Do plants need soil to grow? Plan a fair test investigation Work as a team Which factors will you keep the same? Which factor will you change? What will you observe or measure? How will you observe or measure How will you collect and represent your results? What will your conclusion be?

June is asked to look after her friend Andrew’s plant. Where should she put the plant to keep it healthy? Why is this a good place to keep the plant? After a few weeks the plant is not looking very healthy. It has droopy leaves and the soil is very dry. What has June forgotten to do to the plant? Name four things that plants need to grow and be healthy.

How Plants Make Food Leaves take in carbon dioxide from the air. Leaves absorb light energy from the sun. Roots take in water from the soil. In the leaves the water and carbon dioxide are turned into food for the plant using energy from the sun. The waste produced by the plant is given off as oxygen and water. photosynthesis http://www.icteachers.co.uk/resources/science/plantsfood.ppt
