2 Maya Nutrition  Mayan women cleaned the corn that had been left to soak overnight  The women also pounded the corn to make tortillas and tamales over the fire  Primary food was maize or corn  Their typical food was beans, squash, and chili peppers  Chocolate drinks

3 Aztec Nutrition  Chili peppers, veggies, and cacao beans  Squash  Lots of maize (corn)  Tortillas and tamales  Fresh water irrigation  Fish and water birds  People sometimes had large feasts

4 Inca Nutrition  Farmers grew squash, beans, peppers, peanuts, more than 20 types of corn, and more than 200 types of potatoes  Enjoyed corn fresh, fried, and popped  Farmers gave most of their crops to the government, then government put crops in storehouses where it was then distributed to warriors, temple priests, and people in need
