10 Now that you have made sure you have the basics… Off Periods If you have passed all portions of the STAAR EOC’s and are current on credits, then you may be eligible for “off periods.” Seniors—Up to two periods off 1 st or 8 th OR 1 st and 2 nd OR 1 st and 8 th OR 7 th and 8th

11 Pre-AP/AP courses Challenge yourself! Ask your teacher what you would need to do to be successful in a Pre-AP/AP course. These courses are widely known for preparing you for college success. These courses require a contract to be signed by you and your parent. These will be available after course selection.

12 Dual Credit You have been notified if you qualify to enroll in dual credit courses (must have at least a 3.0 GPA ) Indicate those choices when you sign up for classes (on the list) You must complete all steps or you will be removed from those courses

13 Denton ISD’s ATC Sign up as if you have NOT been accepted Once you are accepted, we will confer with you about your choices Applications are now open for ATC. The forms are available in the Counseling Center.

15 There is a link in your email! Click on the link and it will take you to a Google Form where you can sign up for next year’s courses. Just follow directions!!

16 Yes! You can change your mind! Once you have hit submit, you will get an email that tells you where to go if you wish to change your request. The deadline to make changes is….

17 Deadline for initial changes…March 1

18 Alternates There is a place to choose alternates for next year. IF you do not choose alternates, we will choose them for you and you will not be able to change them!

21 Failed courses? After grades have been finalized, the counselors will place you in any courses you need for graduation. You will forfeit off periods and/or elective courses.

22 Courses requiring teacher approval If you have not conferred with teachers requiring applications or approval, you will be removed from their list and put in one of your alternates

23 Deadline for course selection is March 1

24 Especially for Parents SAT & ACT College Visits Many college applications open August 1 st FAFSA will open October ’16 College & Career Night – March 24 th Email communication
