1 February: Black History Month Black History Month In 1976, President Gerald Ford officially recognized the annual celebration of achievements and central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Black History Month celebrates culture and heritage in correspondence with U.S. history. This month reminds, educates, and inspires the public.
