2  Respect yourself, your teachers, your peers, and school property at all times. You are a reflection of your family; make them proud!!  Listen to and comply with adults' requests the FIRST TIME  Refrain from using profanity  Be prepared to work when you enter the classroom  No food or drinks will be permitted in class  Maintain CMS rules and policies and create a physically and emotionally safe environment

3  Keep all electronic devices (phones, IPods, headphones) off and away unless they are being used for instructional purposes.  Confiscated items will only be returned to parents. Refusal to turn items in to teacher / administrator will result in an immediate suspension. CMS and Cochrane are NOT responsible for theft, loss or damage of electronic devices (page 9 of the Students Rights & Responsibilities). Repeated violations will result in more severe consequences.  No headgear inside of the building (includes hats, headbands, do rags, scarfs, wraps, bonnets, etc.)  Food and Drinks are allowed in cafeteria only  Open containers are not permitted in the classroom or out of the cafeteria

4  If a student is failing a class during the 1 st quarter of each semester, teachers will…  Utilize content from the different objectives focusing in on the heaviest weighted objectives that have been covered (ex. Coach books, from ancillary materials, or teacher-constructed assignments).  Establish common plans for the assignments and distribute them to the student in the form of a packet. This will also be available on on-line.  Establish a deadline for the students to have their packet completed.

5  Upon successful completion of the packet, the student will be awarded a quarter grade of a 60.  This grading differential will only take place during the first quarters of the new courses (1 st and 3 rd nine weeks or 1 st quarter of each semester).  This will give the child the chance of passing the course even if they failed the first quarter.

6  Students MUST pass 4 out of 8 courses AND  1 EOC test: either English I or Algebra I EOC

7  1 st Quarter: 80%  Mid-terms Exam: 20%  2 nd Quarter: 100%  EOC/Final Exam: 25%  How do I calculate my final grade if …..? 1 st Quarter: 85 Mid-term: 70 2 nd Quarter: 93 EOC/Final: 82

8 1 st Quarter (80% of your grade) : 85 (B) x.8 = 68.0 Mid-term Exam (20%): 70 (D) x.2 = 14.0 1 st Quarter (37.5%): 82.0 (C) x.375 = 30.75 2 nd Quarter (100%): 93 (A) x 1= (93 x.375) = 34.875 EOC/Final (25%): 82 (C) x.25 = 20.5 1 st Quarter+ 2 nd Quarter + EOC/Final Exam COURSE GRADE FOR THE SEMESTER 30.75 + 34.875 + 20.5 = 86.1 (B)

9  Pants/shorts are to be worn at the WAIST!  Ripped jeans that expose too much skin is not acceptable (especially in the thigh area)  Shorts & skirts are to be finger tip length regardless of you wearing tights / leggings under them  Shirts must be 4 fingers wide over the shoulders (no spaghetti straps or tank tops).  Sports jerseys must be worn with at least a t-shirt underneath.  Violations will result in removal from class until the attire is corrected

10  Show respect to your driver  Be at your designated stop on time  Use appropriate language  Do NOT throw items out the windows  School rules are enforced from the time you leave your door in the AM until you return back home in the PM  You can not ride another bus  Riding a bus is a privilege … Do not lose it!

11  After School Detention will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 – 3:30. Students attending ASD MUST be off campus by 4:00 PM or receive an additional day of ASD.  Failure to show for ASD without notifying your grade level administrator and/or failure to follow rules in ASD will be considered insubordination and will result in next level of consequence.

12  We Expect Better Behavior (WEBB) Academy will be used for removal from class and students will be escorted by security  Students will stay for the remainder of the class period  Failure to comply with ISS rules / procedures will be considered insubordination  Students assigned to OSS are prohibited from all school activities

13  Tier I (minor infractions)  Parent conference, social restriction, Detention, Behavior contract, ISS, confiscation of item(s)  Tier II (chronic disruptions / repeated Tier I infractions)  Suspension from bus, alternative classroom assignments, temporary or permanent removal from extra curricular activities, OSS

14  Tier III (serious infractions)  OSS, Alternative to suspension centers for 1 – 30 days, expulsion from bus, long term placement  Tier IV (serious crimes)  Assignment to an alternative school for remainder of school year and can be permanent.  Tier V  Expulsion from school

15  Rules 11 – 33 all fall under Tiers III – V  Rule 26: Aggressive Physical / Verbal Action  Fighting & self defense, Assault on student & Staff, Zero tolerance, Inciting and Refusing to disperse  Rule 28: Alcohol, Tobacco and other drugs

16  Rule 29: Weapons and Dangerous Objects  Safe harbor provision  Rule 30: Gang and Gang related activities  Clothing, Communication (hand signs), or vandalism (tagging)  Rule 31 Firearms  Automatic Tier IV or V

17  To be respectful, responsible young adults  Build relationships with our teachers and peers  Be goal-oriented in planning for our future  80 % of our students scoring a level 3 or level 4 on final exams  Utilize technology on a daily basis
