2 -Read to get familiar with various styles & writing conventions -This may be for fiction writer, but it fits all writing tasks -Whatever you write, you should be familiar with the recurring feature of a similar text. -Identify which style works best for your purpose and use the elements of this style in your own writing.

3 Compiled By: Chheang Ratana (June 2012) * Simple Sentence (SV, SSV, SVV, SSVV) Ex: My brother and I go to school and come back home on foot. * Compound Sentence (FANBOYS) Ex: He likes eating, but he doesn’t like cooking at all. * Complex Sentence (Clauses) Ex: He’s a student who never comes to school. * Compound Complex Sentence (Clauses) Ex: He can cook the food which I like best, so I’m so happy.

4 -Make the writing interesting for the reader. -Always write with the audience in mind. -Young readers love simple vocabulary and short sentences. -Shorter and simpler ones are more interesting than longer ones. - Shorter sentences work best at the start of a text. - Writing must be concise. - Avoid obscure vocabulary and lengthy sentences.
