Description In science, natural science is the study of the universe and the rules or laws of natural order. The term natural science is also used to distinguish those fields that use the scientific method to study nature from the social sciences, which use the scientific method to study human behavior, and from the formal sciences, such as mathematics and logic, which use a different methodology. Alongside this traditional usage, the phrase natural sciences is also sometimes used more narrowly to refer to its everyday usage, that is, related to natural history. In this sense "natural sciences" may refer to the biological sciences and perhaps also the earth sciences, as distinguished from the physical sciences, like astronomy, physics, and chemistry.

Within the natural sciences, the term hard science or applied science is sometimes used to describe those sub-fields that rely on experimental, quantifiable data or the scientific method and focus on accuracy and objectivity. These usually include physics, chemistry and many of the sub-fields of biology. Soft science is often used to describe the scientific fields that are more reliant on qualitative research, including the social sciences.

Disciplines of the science Are astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics. Astronomy deals with celestial objects, chemisrty with the study of atoms and particles, biology studies living organisms, earth science is the study of the earth and physics studies the fundamental constituents of the universe.

Importance in education Through biology we learn how our body works and how to treat it better so that we become healthier. We also learn about the environment and how we are all contributing to global warming. It is part of our general education, to know the theories of how life came to earth and more importantly of how it develops through the years. We can almost predict what will happen to the world in the near future through observation and experiments. Without biology we would not understand our body processes, or the importance of our organs, or of genetics, etc. Another example is chemistry; through it we learn about the simple things that together for a whole more complex being. We learn about the elements and how they react, this knowledge enables us to create every day use products. By their different reactions we create jewelry, shampoo, cleaning products, batteries, etc. The knowledge of chemistry enables technological advances and provides explanations for what goes on around us.

Problems of natural sciences To what extent can all the natural sciences be understood through the study of just one science, for example, physics? If biology relies on chemistry, and chemistry relies on physics, can it be said that all natural sciences are reducible to physics? If so, what would be the implications of this position? Scientists can be biased when making observations, choosing to see only what they wish were there. As well as measurements not being exact, there is always a margin of error which proves that natural sciences are not always entirely precise.
